Andrew Boschman
“The Right Choice”
Hello, my name is Andrew Boschman. As a parent and long-time advocate for youth, I believe that strong schools are the foundation of a thriving community. I am seeking your support in being elected as the Subdivision 8 representative to the School Board of Prairie Valley School Division (PVSD).
I currently live in White City with my fiancé, Jackie, and our four active children, who all attend school in PVSD and participate in several local sports and activities. With over 14 years in this community, I’ve been a strong advocate for youth through my roles as a Town Councillor for the past 8 years and as a board member of Communiskate for the past 6 years. During my time on council, I’ve contributed to various recreational initiatives, including the Double K outdoor rink, playgrounds, and planning for a Multi-Use Recreation Facility. I’ve also been a key advocate for a high school and new elementary school in the White City/Emerald Park area. Last year, I was instrumental in getting the Youth Advisory Committee started. I am the council representative lucky enough to work with youth from both White City and Emerald Park, giving them a direct voice on what is happening within the town.
I am passionate about supporting our youth, and I feel it is time to bring that passion to PVSD as your School Board Representative, should I earn enough trust to be elected.
In the 9 years that I have had children attending schools within PVSD, I have had many extremely positive experiences with most teachers and admin staff. Recently, however, there seems to be an increase in staff turnover, which suggests an opportunity to focus on retention and support for our school communities.
It is easy to point out issues, faults, things we don’t like, and even things we are unhappy or upset about, especially when it comes to our children. Instead, I want to focus on the positive change I want to bring to our school division. My goal is to make PVSD the most desired division in the province for educators and families.
By fostering a safe, supportive environment where our educators feel valued and empowered, we can attract and retain the BEST teachers, reducing turnover. Supporting our educators means surrounding them with other dedicated professionals, ensuring a safe working environment, and hiring and promoting based on merit, not convenience.
If elected, my priority will be to ensure that our students are prepared for the real world. Accountability, perseverance, and learning from challenges are key to success in life. Every student deserves a safe and consistent learning environment, free from distractions and personal agendas, where they can thrive. Building trust and respect between parents and teachers is essential for achieving the best outcomes for our children, and this will be a key focus moving forward. This partnership must be a two-way commitment.
Improving funding is essential, PVSD must do a better job advocating for a high school in White City and Emerald Park—its largest center. This community is the only ones of its size in the province without a high school. With two elementary schools already well over capacity, a new elementary school is urgently needed before the situation mirrors the overcrowding experienced before Emerald Ridge opened. If we don’t act now, we could soon see schools operating at 150% capacity again. As our communities grow, it's important to proactively plan for new schools, upgrades, and enhancements to prevent overcrowding and ensure students have the best learning environment.
Let’s focus on strategic planning to ensure our students have the facilities they need to thrive!
I am committed to fostering strong relationships between parents, educators, and our school communities. Your support will help me advocate for a school division where educators feel valued, students are well-prepared for the future, and parents are partners in their children’s education. Together, we can create a positive, supportive environment that promotes accountability and excellence. I would be honored to serve as your Subdivision 8 School Board Representative.
