“The Right Choice”
Hello! For those of you who don’t know me well,I’d like to share a bit about my background and why I’m running for school board trustee.
My journey in public education started at Pense Elementary School. It was there that my love for sports was sparked by Mike Boyes, who introduced me to basketball-a sport I continued playing throughout high school.
I completed high school at Lumsden, where I was fortunate to find pivotal mentors among my teachers and coaches.
Their support through the challenges of adolescence helped shape me into the person I am today.
After high school, I pursed a career in remedial massage therapy, attending Western College of Massage Therapy in Regina. I was honoured to learn from some of the best in the field, including a mentor (Darrell Baiton)that I continue to work with 25 years later.
In 2002, I married my husband Ryan and we have two amazing sons, Clay(19)and Hoyt(16).Balancing my career and family life is one of my proudest roles, and I’m grateful for both the challenges and rewards it brings.
Over the years I have served on various boards, including the Air Cadets Executive Board, the Craven Rink Board and currently the Student Community Council at Lumsden High School.
I’m also passionate about staying active and have completed several half marathons and one full marathon, I currently enjoy weight lifting.
My dedication to personal discipline, focus, and commitment to growth is something I carry into every aspect of my life.
Although I place high priority in academics, public education is also a place for developing friendships, teamwork, resilience and social skills that shape well rounded individuals.
This perspective, along with experience and dedication to learning, growth and collaboration, drives me to serve our community on the school board.
I’m not afraid of hard work, whether on my own or as part of a team, and I am open to new challenges that will help our schools flourish.
Thank you for considering me as your next school trustee- I look forward to the opportunity to serve and support our community.
